Light Source Investigation Box

Here is a great way to teach students about different Light Sources! This investigation box includes three activities that will allow students to explore various source and reflective light sources.

Literature:

Activity One: Light Box

In this activity students observe that in order to see an object there must be a source of light!  The cue card includes questions that will help further the student's thinking.

Activity Two: Is it a Source or a Reflector?

This is a sorting activity in which students sort objects based on if they are a reflector of light  or a source of light! The cue card includes definitions and helpful hints to help the students with their sort.

Activity Three: Firefly Craft

In this activity students will learn what gives fireflies their light. They will then make their own firefly craft. I encourage student's to be as creative as they can be! The cue card gives facts about fireflies and asks the student to figure out why fireflies glow.

Additional Resources

This text would be great to show students other sources of light found around the world!

This text has great information on fireflies and could lead to a discussion on the life cycle of the firefly!
